CommentThere are 4 species of Shy-type Albatross. The Shy, White-capped , Salvin's and Chatham. All are characterized by a white underwing with a narrow black border and an obvious black axillary tab. From above they have all dark wings, back and tail with a white rump. The Chatham Albatross is a vagrant to Australian waters and breeds only on Pyramid Rock at the southern end of the Chatham Island chain. It's numbers are limited by available breeding space. It is identified by an all grey hood and a stunning yellow bill with a black dot on the tip of the lower mandible
