CommentA resubmission to replace an earlier post, with more open cropping and improved processing. Red channel clipping in the tail feathers which afflicted the previous version, has been mostly corrected by exporting two separately processed 16-bit tiffs from DPP4 and combining them with layer masking in Photoshop.
Having just turned up in in large numbers in their southward seasonal migration, these birds were very intent on feeding. The pale eye-ring has an appearance almost like mother of pearl in some light, just discernible on this bird.
