When posting a new topic, please ensure that you select the correct category for your post in the top drop-down box of the edit window. The default entry is the first category shown on the All Categories page; this is unlikely to be the category that you want. The Category drop-down box will be present if you click the New Topic tab in the Forum menu; if you are viewing a particular category of the Forum and you use the New Topic button in the Category Header section, the drop-down box will not be present, and your new post topic will automatically appear in the category that you are viewing.

I agree with your points David. As far as I know, there are no plans to limit the total number of images of any species and I certainly wouldn't be in favour of that. Yes, it's good practice to see what is in our library now to see if a new photo you may want to submit is adding something new. But equally for newer members particularly, we are as much about helping people improve their photography and so posting shots that may not 'compete' with the rest is fine, especially if it is specifically to the Critique gallery to receive feedback.

As for culling lesser quality images, we already do that. Some years ago, I did a major review of all images up to, I think, mid 2015 and tagged the ones that didn't meet minimum standards for removal. They were culled soon after I completed that. More recently, Graham advised the membership of an ongoing process where moderator's mark images that we think might be worth a spot on our website in the short term but wouldn't be up to minimum standards for longer term retention. These images are removed periodically.
