CommentI took this image of a group of Painted-Snipes at the Gingham Watercourse. The image is not a good quality image, but I thought it was worth posting as it is of a group of birds clearly visible as they emerged from their daytime roost to feed . Usually only single birds are seen but in this group there were 9 individuals. I was able to capture this image as I was sitting quietly (for several hours! ) in the vegetation that adjoined the mudflats. The image was taken at quite a distance ,hence the poorer quality.

The Gwydir River Valley overall is home to more than 60,000 hectares of wetland vegetation, providing habitat for rare, endangered, and vulnerable species including the Australian bittern, and the Australian Painted-Snipe.
When flooded, the wetlands can sustain up to hundreds of thousands of breeding colonial waterbirds. Environmental demands help support the ecological character of the Ramsar areas.”

1/4000sec@ f/5.6 ISO 3200 focal length 600mm Hand Held Raw file rendered in DPP4 and a tiff file transferred to Photoshop to reduce noise using Topaz DeNoise AI ,downsize and sharpen before saving.
