CommentA lifer for me and one of very few on BLP taken this morning along the Happy Valley Track at Smiths Gully, Victoria. I have only ever heard and seen them in the distance, although today I was just as startled as this male Red-browed Treecreeper was when it worked it's way around the tree and almost too close for me to focus. My wife in turn captured the female on the next tree over, and thus we were both pretty chuffed. The primary difference between the male and the female is defined by a darker eye patch on the female, whilst she also has a streaked chestnut coloured upper breast.
Shot at 1/200sec, f5.6, ISO800 and at 560mm. The image received a little tweaking in Lightroom to the highlights and the exposure, followed by noise removal via Topaz DeNoise and cropping in Paint.NET.
Note that the date setting on my camera was set incorrectly - a day earlier in fact, and thus the EXIF data does not correlate to the date below.
