CommentThe female Sooty Oystercatcher (on the right) has a noticeably longer bill in comparison to the male. The clifftop rocks and vegetation afforded the birds a level of safety at odds with the huge waves that can be seen crashing into the Warrnambool breakwater in the background.
EquipmentEquipment: Nikon D750, AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/4G ED VR
Settings: 200mm, f/6.3, 1/1000s, ISO-1000
Workflow: Processed in Lightroom and sent to Photoshop for downsize, sharpen and export.
Field note: Image taken whilst laying on the boardwalk at the reserve. A cirrus cloud filtered the light nicely for this exposure, which was more pleasing than one taken a few minutes later under direct sunlight.
Processing note: Distracting small rock has been removed.
