CommentI've been watching a few Nankeen Kestrels on the coast near home over the last few days and managed to secure a side on glance from this female as she held into the moderate wind alongside a rise out from a walk path. The challenge was late afternoon with the setting sun behind the Kestrel with the shadow along the side of the bird I was photographing. Shooting in RAW made it possible to do some post processing and manage to get a reasonable result I was happy with and to give me some well needed practise.
EquipmentPentax K-3 with Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 APO DG HSM lens, ISO 400 @ 500mm @ f/10 @ 1/1000, hand held. Basic processing in Pentax DCU5 and finished in PSE12.
