CommentNote that both male and female are present. The male breast colour is a cinnamon and is unique among Australian ducks. Female breast colour is similar to that of the male Chestnut Teal in breeding plumage.
Shelduck are big. Note the pattern and the large area of white on the underwing. At a glance as they fly past at a great rate of knots, look to the throat. If there is a white collar then you have Australian Shelducks.
