CommentThis bird has just left the flock which was resting in a loafing tree from whence Galahs were leaving in ones, twos and threes in order to fly about 300 meters to a feeding area in pastureland.
I had decided to experiment with lower f stops and lower ISO settings for some flight shots. Note that I was already running into problems with the very strong shadow. The only image of flying Galahs that was going to work in this circumstance was when the wings were virtually vertical and casting no shadows on the bird itself. Probably the most pleasing feature of the image is that it captures the shifts in shape of the vanes of the primaries.
