CommentThe worn tail feathers suggest that this bird may be one of the breeding adults that had a nest on the edge of Yarrie Lake.There was plenty of fish in the lake and the birds managed to raise 2 chicks this season. The water level in the lake is now slowly dropping, exposing the fish to predators such as this Whistling Kite. This bird is in a dive and moments later it made a successful catch of a small fish.

1/6500sec @ f/9.0 ISO 2000 Manual Spot Metering Hand Held Focal Length 600mm
Raw file rendered in DPP4 and a tiff transferred to Photoshop to further adjust shadows on the birds left wing ,darken the background slightly to make the bird pop, apply a slight lens blur on the background ,just noise using Topaz De Noise AI ,downsize sharpen and save as a jpg.
