CommentI was very fortunate to witness the full courting ritual of this Satin Bower Bird in its bower. While I do not condone all the plastic the blue colour made for great colour matching. Funnily enough the Green Bird on the right is a juvenile male not a female so maybe he was showing off or training him how to woo a partner? The young bird looks mightily unimpressed. Yes its two images shot at the same time but to get both birds sharp I had to focus on each in turn then blend in PScc. Consequently both eyes are sharp with good catch lights and feather detail. Note that as well as a milk bottle top the Male has added a small flower for extra attraction.
EquipmentOlympus OMD EM1 Mk2 Panasonic 100-400mm @173mm 1/40s ISO 6400. The Bower was quite dark as it was late afternoon with subdued light so I had to bump up the ISO to get my shutter speed up and even so would have preferred more. Consequently noise reduction was important but NEAT has done a great job yet again!
