CommentDuring the austral migration, a few Terek Sandpipers can usually be found on the Esplanade foreshore. On this day there were five in a group (four shown) and I waited for the rising tide to push them closer but a few minutes after capturing this frame a tidal surge woke the somnolent birds and they all flew off to their high-tide roost.
EquipmentCanon 5Ds + 400 mm f/4 DO II + 1.4x III extender, hand-held.
Manual, spot metering, AI Servo AF with 4-pt expansion, f/5.6, 1/4000 sec, ISO 400.
Processed using DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
