Comment | Common Diving-Petrel Scientific Name = Pelecanoides urinatrix Wingspan = 33 - 40cm Conservation status (BWL) = Least Concern This species was misidentified as Subantarctic Shearwater x1, Hutton’s Shearwater x1 The Common Diving-petrel is distinguishable from the Subantarctic Shearwater by the head shape. The Common Diving-Petrel appears to have a more streamlined head than the Subantarctic Shearwater. The Common Diving-Petrel is distinguishable from the Hutton’s Shearwater by plumage colour and the bill. The Common Diving-Petrel has grey plumage and a short, thickset bill. The Hutton’s Shearwater has brown plumage and a long, thin bill.
