CommentThere are two species of Cisticola in Australia. Females, immatures and males in eclipse plumage can be challenging to separate - particularly when the birds are skulking in dense water-side vegetation or long grass. This image is the easy one: a male Golden-headed Cisticola in breeding plumage. The head is golden in colour and lacks any hint of stripes or streaks.
