Varied Sittella

Varied Sittella (Image ID 46806)
CommentVaried Sitella foraging for bugs beneath freshly curling bark of young red box (Eucalyptus polyanthemos); this is a habitat busy with ribbons of bark, ovate leaves, fine branches meandering skywards creating a mosaic of dark / light tessellations. I chose this photo because I particularly like the momentary direct gaze toward camera of this very acrobatic and agile bird, at one with its mid canopy world.
