CommentThis was my first attempt as using a fill-flash to reduce shadow.
The bird perched in full midday sunlight in front of a dark shaded background, and thus creating strong overhead shadows below the chest.
Photographed at 1/400 sec, f8, ISO800 and at 784mm. The image was processed a little with Lightroom (shadow, highlights and exposure) and Topaz DeNoise within Lightroom, then cropped with Paint.NET before being sharpened with Topaz Sharpen AI. The flash was set at -1/16 and with the camera being handheld there was no extension for the flash - the flash was mounted directly on the camera. The bird was a bit above eye-line of sight, and thus avoiding red eye/blue steel.
