These articles mainly deal with ancillary equipment, but general articles about camera bodies, lenses and settings will be included here.  We have not published any reviews of specific cameras and/or lenses.  There are some articles about lenses and teleconvertors in the In-depth Technical Articles section.

    This article is an updated version of the March 2020 revision of the original published in December 2018.  It aims to provide some pointers to the things to consider in selecting and purchasing photographic equipment that is up to the task of photographing birds.  It covers a range of basic topics such as camera and lens systems, the importance of things like sensor size and focal length, and other factors to consider in selecting cameras and lenses suitable for bird photographs.  Although primarily aimed at beginners with a basic knowledge of cameras and photography, it contains useful reminders for anyone purchasing a bird photography system.
