CommentI believe this to be a young male Satin Bowerbird - possibly last year's progeny. Like the females, males are born with blue eyes, however during the 1st yr they evolve into the striking violet colour that male birds are well known for. Males initially retain their feather and beak colouring as illustrated, however after approx seven years males will have developed whitish beaks and their distinctive deep satin blue/ black feathers.

This particular bird lives in my bush garden and is a regular visitor to a bird-bath overlooked by a bird-hide. I was particularly pleased to catch both eyes (as distinct from a single eye) as he glanced in my direction.
