Hi everyone.

I joined several months ago and hadn't yet interacted, due to the usual things, life, job, keeping my insta presence tonking along, maintaining a rather large bush property and bird photography. Life is at times somewhat hectic. But I have been here on the platform from time to time, admiring the wonderful photos, reading articles and perusing the forum and familiarizing myself with the platform in general.

I'm a born and bred Tasmanian and spent my early years on the wild and sometimes unforgiving west coast of the island. I think this is where my love of birds and wildlife in general began. It was so close to us as we filled our days outside, exploring and playing in the wilderness.

I've always enjoyed photography, but nothing of any real seriousness until more recent times. My dad was an avid taker of photos, and a slide night was a common occurrence in our home. There was literally shoebox upon shoebox of slides. Is anyone else here old enough to remember slides? LOL Please say yes and don't let it just be me.

So, I guess when I think about it, it was always going to be a natural progression for me to go down the path of photography at some point.

Days spent with the birds and my camera are my best days. For a few hours, the crazy of this world we now inhabit just melts away.

I hope to become more involved here and pop up some more of my birds from time to time. I gave it a test run this evening, and I think everything loaded ok.

I got a photo of a green rosella last weekend, quite close and under rather funny circumstances and I thought it quite ironic that your last comp for this year is "Parrots & Lorikeets", so I'm considering entering the photo of our endemic rosella. Now that I have had a practice run here this evening.

That's all from me for now guys.

Cheers Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Welcome to BirdLife Photography.

Glad you have taken some time to introduce yourself and nice to hear you have already acquainted yourself with our website.

Thank-you for also submitting your first image. That is the hardest one. Whether submitting to the New Images gallery, or to competitions, our moderators will offer advice during the process should you need it.

Feel free to also submit to the Critique Gallery if you'd like some feedback on a particular image.

I checked and can see you are receiving our member emails.

Best regards,
Craig

PS. Yes, I remember slides.

Hi and welcome Jackie, and further to our Insta chat, I'm glad you 'jumped into the deep end'.
As I already indicated, you have some terrific shots on your Insta profile, so hopefully many of those beautiful images will start making a regular appearance on here.

Cheers,
Rob.

Hi Rob

Thanks mate. You are very kind. Yes, I will definitely be adding some more of my photographs. As of today, there is currently a weird glitch occurring on my insta account preventing me from posting. So, it could be sooner rather than later :)

Cheers Jac
