Followers of DP Review (owned by Amazon) will be aware that there was news recently that the site would be closed down. The initial story was that all the content would disappear. This was updated a few weeks ago with advice that the content will be archived. As of today the web site still operates and is still publishing new content.

This news has now been followed by the closure of another popular site, Imaging Resource, which has provided detailed camera and lens reviews for many years. Several days ago the site simply disappeared. Now the URL takes one to Outdoor Photography, but there does not appear to be any Imaging Resource content immediately identifiable on the site. This is another resource which has been lost to the photographic community, as IR reviews were generally good, with detailed test scenes and charts allowing cameras to be compared. Their lens reviews were also good.

Sources of relatively unbiased, detailed reviews of cameras and lenses seem to be getting harder to find, replaced to a significant extent by YouTube influencers. Even before it started to be wound down, DP Review had become less focused on detailed reviews, often replacing them with superficial commentary by dpreviewTV on YouTube.
