CommentThis species has been my photographic bete noir. For an unknown reason I tended to find that the paler plumage failed to resolve in detail or was partly reflective. This was my last opportunity for the season - the last Australian Reed-Warbler I recorded for the Summer. It did not call at all and perched only very, very briefly on a bullrush leaf before flying off again. Its plumage is tatty and frayed so it may not have been fat enough or healthy enough to join the migration north with the others.
