CommentI was able to capture several pleasing images of displaying Great Crested Grebes on the same morning as this photograph was taken, but when it came to choosing one photograph for this competition, this one was a stand out. The light was soft (meaning no harsh shadows), the colours of the background were superb, and I think the pose speaks for itself. Interestingly, there was another bird approaching this one under the water when this photo was taken. A few frames later the other bird popped up right in front of this bird, and the two of them proceeded to engage with a rival pair who were in the same area.
EquipmentSony A1 with Sony FE 600mm f4 with 1.4x TC. Shutter speed 1/2500 sec, f5.6, ISO 5000.
