CommentThis non-breeding male is one of a group of Splendid Wrens who inhabit a temperate coastal saltmarsh reserve near where I live. The wrens use the samphire, as lookout points and dart between the samphire, casuarina and melaleuca trees and shrubs, feeding on the ground. Temperate coastal saltmarsh is a threatened ecological community. I have come to appreciate the shape and colours of the samphire.
