CommentThe habitat that I have chosen for this competition is my garden. With ever deceasing habitats due to land clearing, fire and droughts an urban garden provides an important source of food and shelter for these tiny Brown Honeyeaters. I set up my portable bird hide in the garden and have enjoyed photographing the little Brown Honeyeaters as they zoom around the garden feeding on the flowers and calling loudly to advertise their feeding territory.
I chose this image as it captured the moment when the bird was hovering mid air, almost like a hummingbird ,feeding on the blossoms of the Salvia bushes.
EquipmentCanon EOS R5,Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM , Ext EF 2x III
1/2000sec @ f/6.3 ISO 1250 focal length 600 mm spot metering.Bird hide.Tripod.Initially processed in DPP 4 and then transferred to Photoshop to reduce noise using Topaz De Noise AI plugin. The image was then downsized and minimal sharpening was applied to the bird before saving.
