CommentThe Royal Park Wetlands, as a newly reclaimed site from 2006, still has much concrete and iron debris scattered here and there, reminders of the site’s history. Up on the hill above the wetlands, there are some stone troughs that partially fill with water after rain. At first impression, the debris may seem unsightly but bush and grasslands are now softening their jaggedness, and, even, in a sense, offering a reassuring demonstration of how nature can take back some of what was lost from all the littering of the landscape. On this visit, I noticed a diminutive White-browed Scrubwren splashing and flapping as it took a morning bath in in one of the concrete troughs. It is probably a female since it lacks the darker lores of a male, sub-species frontalis.
