CommentWithout at first seeing them but following the sound of their ee-cheeping calls, I came upon a whole flock of New Hollands amongst some large flowering gums on the south side of the Royal Park Wetlands. They seem to be competing with some Wattlebirds and Rainbow Lorikeets in the same vicinity but preferring the lower flowering levels by choice or necessity. They moved so rapidly from flower to flower that they were tricky to photograph but this one stayed long enough to catch it with his or her head in the midst of some white flowerheads. Its black and white striped outfit with yellow flashes in the wings and tail, and white iris, are evident in the photo. The yellow around its gills is not quite in keeping but perhaps this one had just come from imbibing nectar amongst nearby yellow blossom.
