CommentYou never know when a White-bellied Sea-Eagle might appear when you’re out looking for birds at or near water. But you can be just about sure it happens, when you least expect it, and you’ve the camera set for another other subject. Mostly they arrive suddenly and without a warning, sun behind them, and as soon as they spot you, they quickly gain height and disappear. I have found this raptor very difficult to get a half decent photo of, even though I see it quite often, especially juvenile birds, as the one depicted here. This one came quite close, as I stood under the overhanging roof of a viewing platform and couldn’t be seen from above; we saw each other simultaneously, and it gave me time for a burst of exposures, this being the better one. Time of capture: 08:53.
