CommentI captured this gull mid scream - I like the fact that the tongue was sticking out and I am looking at including this in a portfolio for upcoming competitions. I think that the overall impact of this picture is on point, but I would like an opinion as to its presentation. Does the square format work? Is it visually appealing as is or should I include the rest of the frame (i.e. a rectangle crop) to give the bird more space on the right? Should I even think about flipping the entire image 180 degrees so that the bird is on the left of the frame? Ethically am I allowed to tidy up the beak to get rid of those white marks/feather?
EquipmentOlympus OMD EMI MKii Panasonic Lumix 100-400mm f4-6.3 lens 1/1000s @ f/8.0 @ 400mm ISO640 Handheld Editing - cropped into a square. I believe I have also lightened the background from the original which was more grey to a white as I like the high key effect. I have run the picture through Topaz DeNoise but I note that it still appears to have some noise in the feathers/eye. Although this may only show up on the larger sized image...Any further suggestions to get rid of this noise?
