CommentAn image that illustrates the benefits of getting to a spot, and into position, early. I arrived at the lake before sunrise and selected my spot. Several spoonbills flew in shortly after my arrival, and totally ignoring my presence, they commenced feeding. Had I arrived after them, I believe I would have chased them away. There was some heavy brush behind this bird, which was still in deep shade when the sun eventually peeped over the horizon. I was very happy with the effect the shafts of light (which were quartering in to this bird, from about the 9 to 10 o'clock position if 12 o'clock is directly behind the subject) created, especially as they lit up the water droplets.
