| Comment | Following a successful community campaign to save the land from housing developers, a new wetlands has been created over the last five years at the confluence of the Merri and Edgars Creeks in Coburg. It has been a delight to see the new birds that have been attracted to the well-designed wetlands habitat. One such pleasure was seeing some Eastern Rosellas for the first time here, feeding on native plants surrounding the wetlands. The photo shows one of them, a juvenile Eastern Rosella, reaching out for a seed. A juvenile Eastern is characterised by slightly duller colours and its red plumage “bleeding” into the yellow and green parts. Saved from developers and now a strikingly beautiful green oasis for all to enjoy, birds and humans alike. | ||||||||||||||||||
