CommentIn Western Australia this little scrubwren is known as the Spotted Scrubwren (Sericornis maculatus). The bird is a common, extraordinarily sedentary resident in areas of forest, scrub and heathland, wherever the undergrowth is thick. They occur in small family groups, feeding mainly on insects. These groups of birds are quite vocal and easy to locate, but patience must be observed to get a clear view of a bird, because of their preference for staying in amongst the undergrowth. It has a large range roughly following the contours of the coastline from Shark Bay to Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, but it can be found well away from the coast, as long as conditions are favourable.Len Howard Conservation Park, Erskine.
