CommentWe thank BLP member Bill Betts for recommending a visit to Kirkalocka Station where our hosts Jarrod and Blair gave us excellent birding advice. We found a family of Western Q-t with a pair of adult birds catching insects to feed two juveniles. The juvenile (shown here) is similar to the adult female but shows dark streaking and mottling on the breast and underparts. Western Q-t is recognized as a separate species by IOC and most other authorities.
