Fairy Tern

Fairy Tern (Image ID 38228)
CommentA pair of Fairy Terns, part of the breeding colony on the sand bar at Point Walter, Perth. I loved watching these birds coming in with food for their potential mates. The sandbar is in a busy part of the Swan River, with the birds having to cope with constant traffic from walkers, boaters, windsurfers, etc, not to mention illegal dogs and other predators. They show great resilience coming back to the same spot every year and great credit to all those involved in helping to keep the site as safe and secure as possible.
