Comment | It was exciting to see my first Yellow-Faced Honeyeater, one of a pair flitting among the bracken at the Stringybark Picnic Area at Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, where the large displays of flowering Australian natives seem to attract quite a range of different honeyeaters, certainly more than just the New Hollands and White-Plumes that we mainly see in Melbourne’s inner suburbs. The pair were engaged in some late afternoon preening. They were in a very shady area that entailed a slow shutter speed. Fortunately, this one stayed still long enough to secure a reasonable photo. As late autumn approaches, Yellow-Faces often move northwards to warmer climes | ||||||||||||||||||
