Comment | Now I know what they look like, and am listening out for their pure calls, I find I am discovering Grey Shrike-Thrushes everywhere, whether in our local city parks, or in Chiltern National Park near the border, or now at The Briars Park in Mt Martha, where this photo of a juvenile was taken. The juvenile’s pronounced reddish-brown supercilium and streaky breast plumage are very evident. This one was not delivering the beautiful ringing “quee-yule” call of a mature Shrike-Thrush…but first things first. Learn to fly, one. Learn to hunt, two. Learn to sing like Pavarotti, three. Thus the education of a thrush. | ||||||||||||||||||
