CommentJuvenile Mistletoebirds have an orange bill rather than a black one, and it is obvious from this image and another handful of similar ones taken in quick succession that this juvenile Mistletoebird is in the process of prying loose and devouring a small grey, ripe mistletoe berry. This is the first time I have captured a Mistletoebird foraging on these mature berries. I have not been able to find a capture anywhere else showing a Mistletoebird devouring a berry like this, and I would appreciate any feedback. I believe the mistletoe in quest is an ‘Amyema preissii’.
