CommentA north American vagrant associating with approx 100 Silver Gulls in a rapidly drying lake. Adult in non-breeding plumage (striking thick white eyelids, large patches of black across hind crown and upper nape, black primaries prominently tipped white and with a blackish bill with red tip; ref: New Zealand Birds Online).
EquipmentCanon EOS R5, Canon EF 500mm f4L IS II USM Lens & Canon EF 1.4x III Extender

Handheld at 700mm, exposed at 1/2000 secs, f/7.1 on ISO 500. Manual

Processed using DPP4 (using Ian Wilson's notes) & Lightroom with Topaz plug-in for noise reduction.
