CommentI've aged this bird as 2+ and is therefore a non-breeding adult. This bird has nice clean plumage with no remnant juvenile feathers. Another unusual feature of this species is that it undertakes a full moult on passage rather than when it arrives here in Australia unlike our other migrant shorebirds.

Photographed here with Red Knot, Great Knot, Grey-tailed Tattler and Greater Sandplover
EquipmentCanon EOS R5, Canon EF 500mm f4L IS II USM Lens & Canon EF 1.4x III Extender

Handheld at 700mm, exposed at 1/1600 secs, f/5.6 on ISO 125. Manual

Processed using DPP4 (using Ian Wilson's notes) & Lightroom with Topaz plug-in for noise reduction.
LocationEighty Mile Beach, Western Australia
Keywordsadult, non-breeding plumage/features
