CommentAfter their morning drink, a pair of WA endemic Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos (Zanda aka Calyptorhynchus latirostris) flew to the top of a dead tree at the shore of Wagardu Lake to socialize and preen themselves, following which they’d fly on to forage for the day. Status of this species (Dec 2020): Endangered

Exposure Mode: Shutter Priority 1/2000 sec at f4.5; +EV 0.3 & Auto ISO-250. Metering Mode: Centre-Weighted; Focus Mode: MANUAL & AF Area Mode: Single. VR: Off
Nikon ViewNX-i for viewing and selecting files; Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw/CC 2020 for converting NEF to Tif and resizing to 1800X pix. 200% crop performed, then selective sharpening and extensive general post-processing before flattening the image and converting to Jpg. Topaz Pro plug-in DeNoise was used for moderate blanket sharpening and mild noise control. ‘Australian Bird Guide 2019’ for data and colour checks
