CommentJuvenile Fan-tailed Cuckoo being fed by Chestnut-rumped Heathwren. A pair of the tiny Heathwrens worked flat strap trying to keep food up to this hungry "offspring". By nature of the scrubby habitat, obtaining a good picture of the action was almost impossible. The cuckoo always stayed low in the undergrowth waiting to be fed. Once fed, it would peck the "parent" on the rump as if to send it back for more food. It was an absolute privilege to witness this event.
