CommentThis image has a rather busy and interfering background. However, I submit the capture for the (in my opinion) beautiful, frozen wing position. Unfortunately, the situation did not allow much for a better in-camera separation of the background from subject, as I needed the f6.3 to get enough depth of field for such a large bird. The larger f-stop also assisted in allowing for imperfections in the focus-tracking. The action was fast, as the bird only flew a short distance to get a better roosting spot for the day. In order to make the bird stand out a bit more, I desaturated the green paperbark foliage behind the bird in Photoshop CC and lightened this up somewhat as well. I was restricted to standing in the one and same position, due to interfering greenery on my side of a little patch of open water
