CommentThese three White Ibis were sighted together on a spar at Coburg Lake, two perched and one overhead. Black and White processing seemed the best way to highlight their beautiful plumage, wing structures, ruffs, and lacy frills . The silhouettes offer three differing views, each with their own form of beauty. As poet Andrew Lansdown wrote about the response of a woman he noticed in a park who had stopped in front of some ibises: “Oh, a white bird with a black bustle! Two of them! /And she stands for a moment, simply/gladdened by ibises….And when at last she moves on she hardly feels/any weight at all. She could almost/skip, skip like her granddaughter /as she walks with those white birds/spreading their wings in her mind“ (Andrew Lansdown, Birds in Mind).
