Eastern Yellow Robin

Eastern Yellow Robin (Image ID 40989)
CommentThank goodness for the curiosity of these little birds. In order to get an image that I could crop to just the head and neck I had to get very close to my subject. Happily this little bird obliged. However taking the image was easy. Cropping and downsizing to meet the competition image sizes, was a whole new challenge. I chose to enter this image as it meets the competition theme of sharpness and clarity of the identifiable features of the head and bill. The eye-ring, the nostrils, ear-coverts, rictal bristles, the slightly hooked maxilla and the feather detail are all clearly evident in this image
