Palm Cockatoo

Palm Cockatoo (Image ID 40961)
CommentI was so happy to find this species on a trip to Cape York. Black Cockatoos are such iconic Australian birds and the Palm Cockatoo would have to be the most spectacular with its wondrous crest. I was even happier to find this bird quite cooperative and too busy feeding to worry about me or a small group gathering to watch it. I feel this captures all the key qualities of this species: not just the crest but the red facial skin and that massive bill at work.
