CommentThis image was taken at Lake Seppings in Albany. I managed to capture the bird as it flew off its perch, however it was at the far right of the frame, which is not ideal (better to have space in front of the bird, where it is looking or moving toward). Thus, I decided to leave the branch in the image rather than cropping it out, as I think it gives a more pleasing balance to the composition. I removed some negative space at the top and bottom of the frame, and converted to black and white - the dull, cloudy day did not give the scene much in the way of interesting light or colour. I enhanced the blacks and added a graduated filter to the left of the frame, so that the eye would be drawn to the brighter bird. A small amout of vignetting was also added. All in LR. Topaz denoise used to remove some noise and sharpen slightly.
