CommentThis bird was one of a small group browsing on the rock platform and suddenly emerged from a pool with this captured crab. The prey was covered in sand and as it made its way to a safe location to consume it the bird repeatedly dipped the crab in water to remove the sand. This shot appealed because it clearly shows the prey and the pose of the bird captures the action involved in the process.
EquipmentCanon 5D Mark IV with Canon 100-400 II lens with 1.4x extender at 560 mm, 1/1000, f8, ISO 1000, handheld. Processed using DPP4 and Photoshop CC with Neat Image noise reduction.
