CommentI expect this bird is in full breeding plumage, is an adult and obviously having this season off. Given the time the photo was taken all breeding adults would be on their breeding grounds. This was the sole coloured bird among quite a few younger birds feeding at low tide. This is a large crop so there is some noise.
