CommentMany years ago Goulds Lagoon was sliced into two unequal parts by transecting main road and railway embankments, which fortunately do not appear to have lessened its popularity amongst water birds. The smaller body of water, about 20% of the present total water area and bracketed by the embankments, has proven more sheltered from prevailing wind directions and can be a good place for reflections, as on this day. This is not the first time I've seen this species standing with the feet arranged this way, and presumably they need to remember which one to move first!
EquipmentCanon EOS 5D IV EF 400 f/4 DO IS II + 1.4x TC III, at 560mm, centre spot servo AF, handheld Manual exposure, 1/1600 sec, f/7.1, ISO 1600 Processing: Lightroom Classic CC2020 for RAW conversion and initial adjustments, then Photoshop CC2020 where moderate noise reduction was applied with Neat Image. Size reduction to web submission dimensions was followed by final sharpening using Smart Sharpen.
