CommentOne of the issues you encounter with waterbird photography in summer is evaporative haze rising from the shallows that the birds like to feed in, and by mid-morning when this frame was captured the image clarity was affected slightly due to this cause. However I thought the interesting composition reminiscent of one of a pair of parentheses saved it, and I managed to address the haze issues somewhat in post processing. This elegant bird has well developed breeding plumes, and a green courtship flush discernible on the lores.
EquipmentCanon EOS 7D II EF 100-400 L IS II + 1.4x III TC, at 560mm, centre spot servo AF, handheld Manual exposure, 1/1600 sec, f/9, ISO 400 Processing: Lightroom Classic CC2020 for RAW conversion and initial adjustments, then Photoshop CC2020 where moderate noise reduction was applied with Neat Image. Size reduction to web submission dimensions was followed by final sharpening using Smart Sharpen.
