CommentCaptured during a visit to Waitangi in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand. The California Quail are quite numerous in NZ unlike Australia where having been introduced her in the 1800s primarily for game they are now only found on King island. I was lucky to get a light background here but it was a dull day and my travel kit does not include flash so the noise level is higher than I would like but nevertheless acceptable. Feather detail is good.
